That expression of fulfilment after egg collection when the number of eggs collected tally with the expected numbers
That expression of appreciation when your colleague helps prepare a good sperm for ICSI (especially if it was a bad sample, you will feel like hugging that person)
That expression of confusion when you are making dishes and you lose concentration or got distracted (and you are thinking “hope I didn't put sperm wash instead of culture medium inside that dish” especially when the media look alike )
That expression of “oh my God” when you are at home watching TV or on your way home and you suddenly realize you forgot to make dishes for tomorrow's procedure (your mood changes immediately and you start hissing men becomes cranky, women; Mood swing straight )
That irritating expression when follicular fluid splashes on you during egg collection, it's even more painful knowing fully well that you can't gist your spouse what happened to you at work because their next question will probably irritate or annoy you the more (well except S/he is a medical person too )
That frustrating expression when you are injecting an SSC/wash only sample and the needle gets blocked (you will feel like crying )
That heart-skipping moment when you want to thaw frozen oocyte/embryos
That beautiful relief when they thaw well
That expression of; “I don't understand” when there is no pregnancy and the Doctors turn to you and ask “Lab what is going on”? (You will be like didn't I give you people Expanded Blast Embryos or I be God? )
That expression of disappointment when clients bring gift to appreciate the clinic, the admin shares to ALL the department and forgets the lab, what an irony (you will be like are these people for real? I'm sure you can relate and you are probably laughing now, that thing can pain Sha let's not lie )
BUT
That JOY and PRIDE when you see those beautiful Embryos/smooth Embryo Transfer and your pregnancy record (you will be like “ooin I'm doing well” )
That HAPPINESS when you see those sperms you took your time to select and inject turned out to make beautiful babies and
That SMILE when you see those couple
That came to the clinic hopeful leave with their children knowing fully well that you were part of the instrument God used to answer their Prayers
That is the driving force of this great Profession, bringing Joy and smile to many families
Indeed you deserve to be celebrated on this day because you are not just a warrior and the Pillar of the clinic but also IVF HERO
Happy World Embryologist Day everyone
Hope I made you smile at least .
