The Association for Fertility and Reproductive Health (AFRH) was founded in 2010 from the metamorphosis of the Nigerian Fertility Society that was inaugurated in 1992. The association is a nonpartisan, nongovernmental association, geared toward the enhancement of quality education service in reproductive health, with an emphasis on fertility services.
AFRH aims to promote interest in and understanding of reproductive biology and medicine. It seeks to create awareness among all persons within Nigeria, Africa, and abroad, of the importance of reproductive health. It provides a common forum for medical and other interested health professionals and people from all walks of life to work toward this goal.
With the launch of this maiden edition of the African Journal of Infertility and Assisted Conception (AJIAC), AFRH now declares its academic maturity and opens up a platform for its members to join in the intellectual exchange and share the association's philosophy and activities with the rest of the world.
On behalf of the members of AFRH, I wish to congratulate the editorial team led by Prof. Joseph Otubu and Dr. Stephen S. Hati in the editorial office, for making this issue a success.
AFRH also gratefully acknowledges the support of Nisa Premier Hospital led by Dr. Ibrahim Wada for providing the editorial office for AJIAC and the support of the Centre for Reproductive Health Research, led by Prof. Joseph Otubu, for supporting with other logistics toward this issue.
I am confident that with this maiden edition of AJIAC, the intellectual contributions of this journal, along with the active participation of AFRH members, will present new standards in medical writing in our country.
Congratulations.
